Artist Spotlight: Mike Destin

me1Mike Destin is in his third semester at TCC. He is on “track” to earn his bachelor’s degree in Theatre. Mike’s from a small, but beautiful island in the Caribbean called St. Maarten.

Mike plays guitar and piano and writes original music. His two latest creations were “inspired by my recent relationship and (were) written with the heart and not a pen.” The first song is titled, “I Needed Someone” and the second is called, “When I’m Gone.”

Reason he chose TCC: “Because it is the number 1 college that transfers to Florida State University, where I will continue track and field.”

Career goals: “Becoming Olympic champion and world-record holder in both the 100 and 200 meters sprints, multiple Oscars, Grammys and going Platinum for my future records.”

Hobbies: “In my spare time, I love working on self-improvement, either by reading, training or learning new things. I love playing basketball, my guitar and piano. Acting and running track is where my heart is!”

Favorite genres of music: “Hmmm, I don’t really have a preference as long as it sounds good.”

Favorite artist: “Would definitely be Mike Destin, I love his style of music.”

Favorite movie: “Hmmm.. well I love ‘The Best of Me.’ It’s an amazing movie; kudos to the writer and awesome job by the actors!”

If I could have dinner with anyone… “I would have dinner with King Solomon. One night in his presence would make me so much more wiser. I won’t want to leave.”

Favorite quote: “The Bible Romans 8:28. It says, ‘And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.’ So don’t worry about anything!”
