Sedricka Morris is a first-year TCC student from Tallahassee. She plans to transfer to Florida State University to study Retail Merchandising and Product Development. She draws, paints and sews in her spare time.
Why did you choose to come to TCC?
TCC always had a place in my college plans but it was not plan A. I wanted to attend FSU to embrace a full university feeling but comparing the college amenities; I came to the conclusion that TCC was the best option for me due to the smaller classes, and the cheaper prices. I realized that I made a good decision and I will never regret it.
What is your special talent?
My special talent is that I am good with my hands. I can draw, paint, and sew clothes. I begin drawing at just 3 years old, painting came later in high school, and sewing is something that I picked up just last year. I realize that the older I get, the more my creativity develops and grow. My drawing style has changed tremendously. I don’t practice my sewing much as I feel like I should due to me constantly working.
What are your hobbies?
In my spare time I mostly find myself staying ahead in my classes by doing assignments that are not recently due but every now and then I would edit my sewing projects, try to finish them or fix them up. I recently started a new painting so I try to finish it as much as my energy would allow me.
Favorite Musical Artist?
I have many favorite artist’s like Janet Jackson, J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Londrelle, Jhene Aiko. She is actually my favorite of them all. I also like Logic, and Ari Lennox, Frank Ocean, Childish Gambino, Chance the Rapper. All these artists to me personally, I can feel every expression and every meaning in the song, like if I were to draw out the emotion that is put into the music, it would be outstanding.
It has been awhile since I picked up a book and actually read it but my all in time favorite book is “The 5 People You Meet in Heaven.” My junior year of high school for summer reading, that book was one of the books that I had to read and do a book report on and instantly I fell in love with it. Like it was so sad but so interesting if you really read it to understand it and understand what is really going on, because you can read a book and still not understand it. That book was amazing.
I have many favorite movies. But my top favorite movies are The Notebook, I Am Sam, Wolf on Wall Street, Powder, Forrest Gump, The Great Gatsby, and Titanic, The Revenant. Any movie with Leonardo DiCaprio in it as the main character, I love them because I love him. Like I really love him.
If you could have dinner with anyone in the world (living or dead), whom would you choose?
I would just LOVE to sit down with Michael Kors, and Ralph Lauren, and Lillian Cahn, and Coco Chanel. And put our brilliant minds together and come up with a different brand name for my fashion line. I would just love to show them my sewing projects to receive their feedback and ideas.
“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” – Coco Chanel
